Category Link override - Custom re-direct for navigation purposes
PlannedA feature on my previous cart that was very helpful for customizing the navigation on your store was the ability to set a link that would set up a redirect from the category main path to the designated end point you choose.
An example of why this would be helpful is, say you have a category you would like to direct customers to from two different points both of which are in your dropdown menu - currently you cannot. You can't set up a 301 to accomplish this as the site does not allow ( I inquired with support to check).
So, for a generalized example say you have unisex t-shirt category. You want to link your customers to this category from the Mens dropdown sub cats and the Womens alike. So customer hovers over Men, then hits Unisex T Shirts or same thing from Womens both go to the same category. The only way to accomplish this currently is to create duplicates of the category down to the product under different tree's which is crazy unnecessary.
By placing a field on a category page that allows you to force a redirect to your chosen link, a category can become a navigation tool to another part of your site. There are a lot of use cases for this. In my own case I have a section that I would like a link under my brands dropdown to send customers to.
I included two screens from my old cart.
