Ability to have older items show as new

As it is currently there is no way to make an existing item show up as new when using the sort by newest filter. My old platform volusion had this feature and we used it all the time.

 

In our industry things are announced months to a year ahead of time. I would like to add the items to our site for pre-order when they are announced, then when they are actually available be able to have them move up to the top of the items when using newest to sort.

  Hello,

  You can go to Products->Attributes and create a new Attribute of type Dropdown and name it something like "Release Date". You can then go to Products->Product List, open the Product you want and add the Custom Attribute "Release Date" with whatever value you want. Then you can go to Products->Categories and add the Products to that Category by clicking on "Manage Products". Within that screen you can set a Custom Sort Option and choose your Attribute "Release Date". The system will then sort your products based on the value of the Release Date which should accomplish what you want.

  The only issue with that is that I have to go through every single existing product and add a date. If I add a date to the new items only, and use that filter it does the opposite of what I want, the items with the date goes to the bottom of the list not the top.

  We suggest you open a ticket with our support team with the Store URL and Category URL that is causing this issue, there may be a fix we can apply/suggest to resolve this.
