Google Analytics provides detailed statistics about the traffic on your site, as well as information about the effectiveness of your marketing campaigns. This article shows how to set up your Google Analytics account. The process is quick and simple, and requires no setting up of tracking codes on your end.
To set up your Google Analytics account, do the following:
- Visit the Google Analytics site, and click Access Google Analytics.
- If you already have a Google account, click Sign In. Enter your Google account's Email and Password and log in.
If you do not have a Google account, click Create an Account and follow the instructions. - Once signed in, click the Sign Up button.
- On the New Accounts page, under “Setting up your account,” enter an Account Name. This should be a top-level reference such as the name of your business, rather than the name of an individual store or store view.
- Under “Setting up your property,” do the following:
Enter the Website Name of your store.
Enter the Website URL for your store. - Complete the remaining items on the form. Then click the Get Tracking ID button at the bottom of the page.
- When prompted, read the Terms of Service Agreement, and click I Accept to continue.
- On the administration page, write down your Tracking ID / Account ID, including the “UA-” prefix. You will need this later when you configure your store.
