This tutorial will explain how to configure the pricing information for products in your Zoey catalog. To learn how to add a product to your store, please review this tutorial.
To configure the price information of a product, do the following:
- In your Control Panel, go to Products > Product List.
- Here you will see all products that are currently being offered in your store.
You can Customize the List View to include the information you need as well as use the search function to locate a product. - Click on the Product you wish to edit.
- In your General Information area, you'll find:
- Price: The price offered to your customers before any sales or discounts.
- Tax Class: Taxation may vary from product to product and from one tax jurisdiction to another, as well as in the shipping of different products. Select the appropriate option for the products you are selling. - Click on the Special Price tab on the left to enter discount information such as:
- Special Price: If you will be offering discounts or promotions for particular product, simply add a special price in the allocated field. You can define the promotion period by entering the start and end dates for the promotion in the To and From field dates, using the calendar icon or by manual entry.
- Group Price: If you want to offer a certain group of customers a special discount, you can set up Group Pricing. For example, you might have a loyalty program where VIP customers get 10% off products. Customers in this group would get the group price indicated in this field.
- Tier Pricing: Tier pricing lets you offer a quantity discount to all customers, or extend the discount to only select group of customers. The discount appears on both the category list and product detail pages, and can be applied to a specific store view and customer group. On the category list page, the product price includes the words, “As Low As: $110” On the product detail page, the calculated quantity discount appears in a box, with a message that says:
- Buy 2 for #__._ each and save _%
- Buy 4 for $__._ each and save _% - Click Save to save your changes.
Don't see these items in the areas mentioned above? Each value is an attribute and each attribute's position & grouping is based on the Attribute Set that your product was created with. Our tutorials are based on the latest default settings although you may see these differently if you have made changed to your sets.
